Walking on Water: Learning to Trust Jesus in the Storm
In this passage from Mark 6, Leon Pretorius opens up the dramatic events that follow the feeding of the five thousand — a hostile ruler seeking Jesus's life, a crowd intent on forcing him to be king, and twelve disciples straining against a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee. Through Peter's walk on the water, we see the single lesson Jesus is patiently, persistently pressing into his disciples and into us: trust him. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, his resources are inexhaustible, and he calls us to keep our eyes fixed on him — not on the storm.
