Key Scripture: Genesis 2:24
Genesis 2:24 gives us a stunning picture of what God intended marriage to be: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” But before we can understand what it means to become one flesh, we need to understand what it means for a husband to truly lead. This first message in our two-part series on the husband’s role lays the biblical foundation.
South Africa is experiencing a crisis of male leadership — not because men lack authority, but because too many have confused authority with power. The Bible tells a different story. God designed the husband to be a servant-leader in the mould of Jesus Christ, who “came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). In this message, we explore what that foundation looks like in the context of marriage: how a husband’s identity in Christ shapes how he leads, loves, and lays down his life for his wife.
